Modern Pythagorean numerology — the system every calculator on this site uses — was formalized around 1900 by L. Dow Balliett and later systematized by Juno Jordan. It takes its name and inspiration from Pythagoras, whose school in ancient Greece taught that numbers carry qualitative meaning, and it sits alongside parallel traditions in Chaldean, Kabbalistic, and Vedic numerology. We tell you this plainly because most numerology sites won’t: this is a modern interpretive practice with ancient inspiration — and we think honesty about that makes the practice more useful, not less.
